Professor David Olusoga OBE, BAFTA winning film-maker, speaker and author announces his first ever talk at Theatre Royal Winchester

David, a British-Nigerian historian and author, is an expert at examining what history reveals about our contemporary society and as history is now being contested as never before he brings something new and powerful to his talks every time.

With titles such as The State of the British Union and Why Black History Matters he will expand on these ever-changing subjects and the contemporary situations we all find ourselves in. His seven books include Black & British: A Forgotten History (awarded both the Longman-History Today Trustees Award and the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize), The World’s War, Black & British A Short Essential History, The Kaiser's Holocaust: Germany's Forgotten Genocide and the Colonial Roots of Nazism.

He is also responsible for the long-running BBC history series A House Through Time and BBC documentary, Union where David examines the four UK Nations.

Plus there are many more television series including Britain’s Forgotten Slave Owners, The World's War, The Unwanted: The Secret Windrush Files and the landmark BBC arts series Civilisations.

David's books will be available on the evening, and he will be signing after his talk. A new publication is due for release in 2024.
