Best Family Entertainment nomination!

We’ve been nominated for Best Family Entertainment in Hampshire – in the Hoop Awards!

The national awards celebrate the country’s best organisers of family activities – who ‘go above and beyond to entertain, educate, and inspire children’.

Last year we won the award and now we hope you’ll vote for us again!

We strive to host the very best children’s shows at the theatre – from popular favourites such as Dear Zoo, Horrible Histories, Julia Donaldson’s The Scarecrows’ Wedding… to fun and educational shows like Morgan and West’s Unbelievable Science and Shlomo’s Beatboxing Adventure for Kids.

Of course, there’s our traditional family pantomime too – which has been nominated in the Great British Panto Awards for three years running! This year it’s Aladdin and tickets are on sale now!

We also host Backstage Tours, which give theatre lovers of all ages the chance to go behind the scenes, explore the dressing rooms, try on costumes, learn about our unique history and visit the fly tower to see the stage from above (a view very few get to see!).

Plus, our Open Days play host to demonstrations, activities, exhibitions and performances.

Playmakers – the creative learning and community engagement work, overseen by Play to the Crowd, the charity behind the theatre – host Youth Theatre projects here too, giving young people the chance to perform or learn the technical side of staging a show; as well as other performance and craft workshops, suitable for all ages; and Young Producers, which gives teenagers and young adults the chance to plan and run events.

Anyone can vote in the awards and we hope you’ll choose us!

Each person who votes is entered in to a prize draw to win £250, to spend on family classes and activities in 2020.

Voting closes on 23 March, with the winners of the awards announced on 30 March. The winners of the prize draw will be contacted by Friday 3 April.
